Ali Forney Center
A Homeless Shelter for LGBTQ Young Adults
EMLI has partnered with the Ali Forney Center to provide shelter to homeless Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning young people. The Ali Forney Center is the largest provider of shelter for LGBTQ youth and young adults in the country, many of whom were kicked out of their homes by parents because of their sexual orientation. The shelter at St. Andrew’s is one of ten sites in New York City. With hundreds of kids on the wait list for a bed, St. Andrew’s provides a warm, safe place for 15 young people who might otherwise be homeless. St. Andrew’s offers not only a safe physical space, but also a community where the youth can experience Christ’s love and acceptance.
