Holy Apostles has supported nearby PS 15, a Title 1 School, which has seen a high influx of migrant families. The parish has provided school supplies, rent support, relocation help from shelters to permanent housing, assistance with utility bills, holiday gifts, clothing, Thanksgiving meals, groceries, and more. But the amount of support needed extended beyond the financial capacity of the parish. EMLI funding will assist with the purchase of supermarket gift cards for preparation of hot meals, cell phones that work in the U.S., basic necessities including clothing, coats, and shoes, and money to do laundry. The school also needs shelving, rolling racks, and bins to organize the donations they are receiving.
