Episcopal Ministries of Long Island (EMLI) is thrilled to announce the arrival of Lauren Bakoian as our first ever Community Engagement Manager.
In this new part-time role, Lauren will serve as a coach and connector for parish ministries across the Diocese, working closely with parish ministries on-the-ground to foster community partnerships and train volunteers.
She will work alongside Program Director Sandra Senior as a valuable resource for ministry partners, supporting parish leaders as they build local connections, expand the scope and reach of services, and develop strategies for sustainable ministry.
Lauren brings a wealth of experience in community building, service, and equity. For over seven years, she served as an event manager at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity, where she also launched and expanded food security programs during the COVID-19 pandemic to support the local community. She later worked at the Church of the Ascension in Greenpoint and with the North Brooklyn Angels, coordinating weekly hot meal distributions, mobilizing volunteer teams across multiple sites, and administering a grant serving families in Bushwick.
We look forward to the passion and creativity Lauren will bring to this essential work. She began her work on June 3, 2025. Please join us in welcoming Lauren to the EMLI community!
