St. Peter's Garden and Pantry Volunteers at the Celebration of Ministry

Friends of Episcopal Ministries across Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk came together on October 16, 2024 for a "Celebration of Ministry." This year's honoree was the Garden and Pantry at St. Peter's by-the-Sea in Bay Shore.

This annual event is a joyful celebration where we have a chance to connect with friends across the diocese, break bread together, and – perhaps most importantly – see how our faith is coming to life through our support of dozens of vibrant parish ministries.

About our Honoree

The St. Peter's Garden and Pantry is a unified ministry that combines the efforts of the church's food pantry and organic garden to address food insecurity in the greater community. What began as two separate ministries has grown into a collaborative effort that exemplifies St. Peter's commitment to caring for their neighbors and stewarding God's creation.

With strategic support from EMLI, the Garden and Pantry at St. Peter’s have become a lifeline in Bay Shore. The pantry is not just about food; it’s about dignity and choice, offering fresh organic produce and pantry staples in a welcoming atmosphere. The garden provides more than sustenance—it’s a place of learning, where students, including those with special needs, contribute to its success.

These ministries together are a powerful demonstration of what is possible when we have the courage to say “yes” to what God is calling us to do.
