Saint Ann's Episcopal Church, Sayville

For more than four decades, Saint Ann's Episcopal Church has carried its ministry beyond Sayville and out to Fire Island, where members serve summer communities in Cherry Grove and The Pines. That same spirit of reaching wherever the need is has shaped how Saint Ann's approaches its food pantry: a ministry that has grown from a single weekly distribution into a two-day operation, supplemented by a round-the-clock blessings box outside the church for anyone who needs help outside pantry hours.

The pantry serves a wide catchment area stretching from Oakdale to West Patchogue, welcoming people of every faith and no faith at all, with essential help from The People's Arc of Suffolk County, whose members shop for, stock, and maintain the pantry each week. Saint Ann's is also working to extend its presence further onto Fire Island, exploring additional blessings box locations to reach the service workers, cleaners, and day laborers who live and work in that seasonal, affluent community but often go unseen. As the cost of living continues to strain the families it serves, the pantry keeps adapting, growing its hours, its reach, and its partnerships to meet whatever need shows up at its door.
